Role Overview
NRHS is seeking three Shift Station Managers (1 permanent and 2 fixed-term/secondment contracts) based at Stratford International, London.
This is an opportunity to take on a leadership role within one of the UK’s most dynamic transport hubs. Shift Station Managers play a vital part in keeping stations running smoothly, ensuring passenger safety, coordinating responses to incidents, and leading frontline teams to deliver an exceptional travel experience.
The positions include:
- 1 x Permanent Post
- 1 x 12-month FTC/Secondment
- 1 x 6-month FTC/Secondment (with potential for extension or permanency)
Key Responsibilities as a Shift Station Manager
- Lead and support station teams, promoting a culture of accountability, respect, and high performance
- Act as the primary point of contact during incidents and emergencies, ensuring safety and effective communication at all times
- Build strong relationships with train operators, contractors, and retail partners to deliver a seamless passenger experience
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and accessibility standards, addressing risks proactively
- Drive improvements in station performance, passenger service, and operational efficiency
Skills & Experience Required
- Experience leading and developing teams in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment
- Strong decision-making skills, able to remain calm and effective under pressure
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities
- Passion for customer service and people leadership
- Willingness to complete safety and incident management training
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and professional development
- Experience in safety management, incident response, or accident investigation
- Commercial awareness, including budget or contract management
- Confidence with IT systems, reporting, and data analysis
- Knowledge of rail operations or transport infrastructure
Pay & Contract
- Salary: £43,588 per annum
- Contract: 1 Permanent, 1 x 12-month FTC, 1 x 6-month FTC (potential to extend)
- Location: Stratford International, with travel required along the High Speed line
