Role Overview
As a Senior Security Officer, the successful candidate will play a key leadership role within the Forensic Services Security Team, helping to maintain a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment. They will support the management of security operations, supervise staff, and ensure that all security procedures are followed to the highest standards.
This position is ideal for an experienced security professional who is calm under pressure, confident in decision-making, and committed to supporting both patient care and staff safety within a healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities as Senior Security Officer
Lead and supervise security officers during shifts within forensic and clinical environments
Maintain the safety and security of patients, staff, visitors, and Trust property
Respond effectively to incidents, emergencies, and security breaches
Conduct regular patrols and security checks across designated areas
Ensure compliance with Trust policies, procedures, and relevant legislation
Provide guidance, training, and support to junior security staff
Complete accurate incident reports and maintain clear records
Work closely with clinical teams, management, and external agencies when required
Skills & Experience Required
Previous experience in a senior or supervisory security role
Experience working within healthcare, mental health, or secure environments (desirable)
Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
Good level of physical fitness and resilience
Strong understanding of health and safety and security procedures
Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays

Full-time, shift-based role
Rotational shifts covering days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays
