Role Overview

The Construction Security Manager position, based in Canary Wharf, East London, offers the chance to lead on-site security operations for a major project. Responsible for safeguarding staff, contractors, and visitors, the role combines operational leadership with customer service excellence.

Key Responsibilities as Construction Security Manager

  • Ensure the safety of staff, contractors, and visitors across the project site
  • Oversee safe access and egress procedures, including biometric compliance
  • Lead, manage, and support a team of security officers and supervisors
  • Maintain training records and staff compliance matrices
  • Respond to incidents promptly and complete detailed reports, following escalation processes
  • Conduct site risk assessments and liaise with client representatives to mitigate risks
  • Manage access control systems and report any faults or issues
  • Deliver a high level of customer service to all site stakeholders
  • Uphold health and safety standards in line with construction industry requirements

Skills & Experience Required

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Previous experience in customer-facing security roles, particularly on high-profile construction projects
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures and escalation protocols
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and resolve conflicts effectively
  • IT literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Understanding of health and safety legislation in construction
  • Experience with access control systems and site security processes

Qualifications Required

  • NVQ Level 2 Award for working as a Door Supervisor or Security Officer
  • Valid SIA licence (Security Operative)
  • CSCS card holder
  • SSSTS or SMSTS certification
  • Full 5-year checkable work history (BS:7858 standard)
  • Current DBS check

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a relevant sector
  • Conflict Management and Physical Intervention training
  • First Aid at Work certification
  • Fire Marshal or Traffic Marshal certification
  • CCTV licence
  • Major project experience including inductions and access control

Shift Pattern & Pay

  • Full-time, permanent role
  • 62.5 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday, 06:30–19:30
  • £20.00 per hour
