Role Overview
HMP Feltham is recruiting dedicated Prison Officers to help maintain safety, security, and order within the establishment. Prison Officers are at the heart of daily prison life, building positive relationships with prisoners while enforcing rules, managing behaviour, and supporting rehabilitation.

Key Responsibilities as Prison Officer
Maintain the safety and security of prisoners, staff, and visitors
Supervise prisoners during daily routines, movements, and activities
Build professional, respectful relationships that encourage positive behaviour
Identify and manage risks, incidents, and conflict situations effectively
Support prisoners’ rehabilitation, wellbeing, and personal development
Carry out security checks, searches, and monitoring duties
Maintain accurate records and follow established procedures and policies
Work closely with colleagues to ensure a safe and supportive environment
Skills & Experience Required
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to remain calm, firm, and professional under pressure
Good judgement, integrity, and resilience
Willingness to work as part of a team in a structured environment
Commitment to equality, diversity, and respect
No prior prison experience required – full training provided
Shift Pattern & Pay
Full-time role with shift work, including nights, weekends, and public holidays
