Role Overview

Exertis UK is seeking an Information Security Officer to take ownership of implementing, enforcing, and continuously improving security policies and controls. This is a permanent role based in either Basingstoke (RG24 8EH) or Burnley (BB12 7BF), with hybrid working available. The successful candidate will play a key role in protecting Exertis’ systems, ensuring compliance, and promoting a strong security culture across the organisation.

This position is ideal for someone with strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a passion for safeguarding IT environments in a dynamic, results-driven workplace.

Key Responsibilities as Information Security Officer

  • Implement and enforce security policies, standards, and tools, including endpoint protection, SIEM, SOC, and vulnerability management systems
  • Conduct risk assessments and threat modelling, maintaining the IT risk register and supporting the deployment of security controls
  • Lead incident response activities including investigation, containment, recovery, and post-incident reviews
  • Drive compliance with ISO 27001, GDPR, and NIS2 standards
  • Promote security awareness across teams through training and collaborative initiatives

Skills & Experience Required

  • Strong understanding of network and system security principles
  • Experience with security technologies such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and encryption (desirable)
  • Experience conducting audits and ensuring compliance with relevant standards
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships across teams
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving in fast-paced environments

Salary & Contract

  • Up to £50,000 DOE plus 10% bonus OTE
  • Permanent contract
  • Full-time, Monday to Friday, 9am–5:30pm
  • Hybrid working from Basingstoke or Burnley

Flexible Work Options

This role is primarily based in Basingstoke or Burnley, but Exertis is open to flexible working arrangements where possible, balancing the needs of the business, customers, and employees.
