Role Overview
As a Perimeter Security Officer, the successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the safety and security of the Parliamentary Estate. They will be responsible for protecting perimeter boundaries, controlling access points, and ensuring a visible and reassuring security presence at all times. Working as part of a highly trained team, the officer will help deter threats, respond to incidents, and uphold the highest standards of security and customer service.

Key Responsibilities as Perimeter Security Officer
Monitor and patrol designated perimeter areas of the Parliamentary Estate
Control and screen access for staff, visitors, contractors, and vehicles
Operate security equipment such as CCTV, access control systems, and alarms
Challenge suspicious behaviour and respond appropriately to incidents
Conduct searches in line with security procedures and legislation
Provide clear directions and assistance to visitors and staff
Report and record incidents accurately and promptly
Work collaboratively with colleagues and emergency services when required
Skills & Experience Required
Previous experience in security or a customer-facing role (preferred but not essential)
Strong observational and communication skills
Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
Good level of physical fitness and stamina
High level of integrity, reliability, and attention to detail
Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays
Ability to pass vetting and security clearance checks
Shift Pattern & Pay
Full-time, shift-based role
Rotational shifts covering days, nights, weekends, and public holidays
