Role Overview
As a Security Officer, the successful candidate will play a key role in protecting University buildings, people, and assets. Working as part of a professional security team, they will provide a visible presence, monitor activity across campus, and respond effectively to incidents and emergencies.
This role is ideal for someone dependable, observant, and customer-focused, who takes pride in maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism within a busy university environment.
Key Responsibilities as Security Officer
Patrol University buildings and grounds to maintain safety and security
Monitor CCTV systems and alarms, responding appropriately to incidents
Control access to University premises and ensure authorised entry only
Provide assistance and guidance to students, staff, and visitors
Respond to emergencies, incidents, and safety concerns in line with procedures
Record and report incidents accurately and promptly
Support evacuation procedures and campus safety initiatives
Skills & Experience Required
Previous experience in a security or similar role (preferred but not essential)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Calm, professional, and vigilant approach
Ability to follow procedures and work independently
Reliable, punctual, and flexible with working hours
SIA licence or willingness to obtain may be required
