Role Overview
As a Security Assistant, the successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the safety and security of University premises, people, and assets. Working as part of a professional security team, they will provide a visible presence, respond to incidents, and ensure that University policies and procedures are followed at all times.
This position is available on both full-time and part-time bases and is well suited to individuals who are vigilant, approachable, and committed to delivering high standards of customer service within a busy and varied environment.
Key Responsibilities as Security Assistant
Patrol University buildings and grounds to ensure safety and security
Monitor access points and control entry to authorised persons
Respond promptly and effectively to incidents, alarms, and emergencies
Provide assistance and information to staff, students, and visitors
Report and record incidents accurately and in line with procedures
Support emergency evacuations and safety drills when required
Maintain a professional and reassuring presence at all times
Skills & Experience Required
Previous security experience is desirable but not essential
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Calm, professional, and reliable approach to work
Ability to follow procedures and make sound judgments
Willingness to work shifts, including nights and weekends
SIA licence (or willingness to obtain) may be required
