Role Overview
As a Security Assistant, the successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the safety and security of University premises, people, and assets. Working as part of a professional security team, they will provide a visible presence, respond to incidents, and ensure that University policies and procedures are followed at all times.

This position is available on both full-time and part-time bases and is well suited to individuals who are vigilant, approachable, and committed to delivering high standards of customer service within a busy and varied environment.

Key Responsibilities as Security Assistant

  • Patrol University buildings and grounds to ensure safety and security

  • Monitor access points and control entry to authorised persons

  • Respond promptly and effectively to incidents, alarms, and emergencies

  • Provide assistance and information to staff, students, and visitors

  • Report and record incidents accurately and in line with procedures

  • Support emergency evacuations and safety drills when required

  • Maintain a professional and reassuring presence at all times

Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous security experience is desirable but not essential

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Calm, professional, and reliable approach to work

  • Ability to follow procedures and make sound judgments

  • Willingness to work shifts, including nights and weekends

  • SIA licence (or willingness to obtain) may be required
