Role Overview

As a Security Officer, the successful candidate will play a vital role in safeguarding the Dockyard’s extensive site, including historic ships, museum spaces, residents, employees, tenants, and visitors. Responsibilities include granting and monitoring access, conducting regular patrols, responding to alarms and security breaches, enforcing safety procedures, and supporting contractors and emergency services. This role also requires monitoring CCTV, managing key control, and reporting security concerns. A valid SIA licence is essential.

This position is ideal for someone vigilant, responsible, and dedicated to maintaining the safety and integrity of a nationally significant heritage site.

Key Responsibilities as Security Officer

  • Monitor and control site access for visitors, residents, and contractors
  • Conduct regular patrols and respond to alarms or incidents
  • Enforce health, safety, and security procedures at all times
  • Assist visitors and act as a point of contact for contractors and emergency services
  • Monitor CCTV and manage key access systems
  • Investigate and report any security concerns promptly
  • Current SIA licence (essential)
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with a wide range of people
  • Commitment to safety, security, and integrity
