Role Overview

Babcock International is seeking a Security Vetting Team Leader to join its Warrington, Cheshire site with hybrid working options. This role is central to safeguarding people and operations by overseeing the vetting process for employees and contractors, ensuring compliance with national legislation and internal security standards.

The position is ideal for an experienced leader with strong knowledge of HMG clearance processes and a passion for maintaining high security standards.

Key Responsibilities as Security Vetting Team Leader

  • Lead and support the vetting team, providing subject matter expertise and management
  • Monitor the delivery of vetting services, ensuring compliance with policies and SLAs
  • Act as the main escalation point for complex clearance queries
  • Engage with stakeholders to promote security awareness and compliance
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of security clearances to meet regulatory requirements
  • Report staffing and training needs to the Head of Security Clearance and Vetting

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven leadership or line management experience
  • Strong understanding of HMG clearance policies (NSV, BPSS, IPSA)
  • Knowledge of data protection legislation
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Ability to make confident decisions independently
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain BPSS/SC security clearance

Shift Pattern & Pay

  • Contract: Permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week)
  • Location: Warrington, Cheshire + Hybrid working arrangements
