Key Responsibilities as a Day Security Officer

  • Provide a professional and welcoming reception for students, staff, and visitors
  • Ensure the safety and security of people, property, and university facilities
  • Respond sensitively and effectively to day-to-day issues and incidents
  • Carry out rotating day shifts, including weekends, as part of a supportive team
  • Assist with events and visits from high-status speakers
  • Uphold high standards of communication, professionalism, and discretion

Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous experience in a security role (essential)
  • Strong communication and literacy skills, with the ability to speak clearly in English
  • Competence in Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Ability to deal with people sensitively, efficiently, and effectively
  • Physical fitness to pass an annual assessment for safety-related duties (including physical restraint)
  • A calm and problem-solving approach in fast-paced situations

Shift Pattern & Pay

  • Salary: £29,110–£32,468 per annum (inclusive), with potential progression to £34,107 (inclusive of London allowance)
  • Alternating and rotating day shifts, including weekend working
