Role Overview
The Senior Security Manager role, based in London, is an opportunity to contribute directly to the safety and resilience of a global media organisation. Supporting NBCUniversal and NBC News International across the EMEA region, this role requires a versatile leader who can operate confidently in both corporate and newsroom settings as well as in challenging or hostile environments.
The position is ideal for an experienced security professional with a strong background in corporate security, risk management, and operational response—particularly someone who thrives under pressure, manages multiple priorities, and is willing to travel internationally at short notice.
Key Responsibilities as Senior Security Manager
- Lead the planning and delivery of security programs to protect employees, assets, facilities, and reputation across the EMEA region
- Oversee security planning for corporate events, productions, news, and sports deployments
- Provide specialist support for news operations in hostile or high-risk environments, including risk assessments and deployment of protective equipment
- Act as part of the on-call security roster, delivering out-of-hours support when needed
- Ensure compliance with NBCUniversal security design standards across all facilities
- Collaborate with global intelligence teams to deliver timely threat assessments and responses
- Build strong relationships with business leaders and advise on security strategies
- Manage external security providers, contracts, and service standards
- Support crisis management, business continuity, and disaster recovery planning
- Lead or support investigations into security incidents, ensuring corrective actions are taken
- Deliver tailored security awareness programs to staff across the region
- Deputise for the Senior Director Security, News, when required
- Travel internationally, including to high-risk locations, often at short notice
Skills & Experience Required
- Extensive background in military, law enforcement, or corporate security
- Strong understanding of corporate security principles, incident response, and risk assessments
- Recent hands-on experience in remote, high-risk, or hostile environments
- Skilled in analysing intelligence and providing actionable advice under pressure
- Certified or experienced in first aid and trauma care
- Excellent project management and organisational skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to brief senior leaders effectively
- Experience managing budgets and vendor relationships
- Knowledge of international politics and geography with relevant global work experience
- Willingness and flexibility to travel internationally, including to austere environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience supporting media organisations or productions
- Ability to work independently and offer pragmatic solutions in complex environments
- Established international security networks, particularly across EMEA and APAC
- Experience supporting senior executives and high-profile talent
- Proven track record within globally dispersed security teams
