Role Overview
As a Retail Security Officer, the successful candidate will provide a reassuring presence in-store, working to protect customers, colleagues, and property. From conducting patrols and monitoring CCTV to liaising with store management and police, this role is key in preventing incidents and ensuring a safe shopping environment.
This position is ideal for someone observant, approachable, and reliable, with a strong focus on customer service and safety.
Key Responsibilities as Retail Security Officer
- Deliver industry-leading customer service at all times
- Deter violence, theft, and public order offences through a visible presence
- Conduct regular store patrols to ensure safety and security
- Operate CCTV systems to monitor and reduce crime and stock loss
- Liaise effectively with store management and police where required
- Wear and operate Body Worn CCTV to support incident reduction
- Build positive working relationships with crime partnerships and colleagues
Skills & Experience Required
- A valid SIA licence or SIA certificates (training may be provided in some cases)
- A full 5-year checkable employment/education history (essential for vetting)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Professional, calm, and confident when dealing with incidents
- Ability to work weekends, early mornings, and late shifts
- Previous security experience (preferred but not essential)
Shift Pattern & Pay
- Pay rate: £12.45 per hour
- Part-time position with various shifts (rota discussed at interview)
- Must be available for weekend, early, and late shifts
