Role Overview

As a Security Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for protecting Trust premises and supporting staff, patients, and visitors. From patrolling grounds to enforcing safety policies, this role is central to maintaining order and preventing risks. Security Officers are trusted to act swiftly, handle incidents professionally, and contribute to the Trust’s high standards of safety and care.

This position is ideal for someone vigilant, proactive, and dependable, with a strong sense of responsibility and integrity.

Key Responsibilities as Security Officer

  • Evict trespassers and patrol Trust grounds, both internally and externally
  • Secure and check doors, windows, and access routes
  • Challenge individuals without ID or escort in secure areas
  • Assist in locating missing service users when required
  • Conduct crime-prevention checks in car parks and internal roads
  • Issue Parking Charge Notices in line with Trust policies
  • Support with cash collection and secure transfer duties
  • Enforce the Trust’s no-smoking policy across all sites
  • Record and report incidents accurately using the Trust’s electronic system
  • Operate the switchboard outside of core working hours
  • Support the Security Supervisor in day-to-day duties as directed
  • Wear only the approved Trust uniform and attend regular supervision meetings
  • Complete all required training provided by the Trust and service provider

Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous experience in a security role (preferred but not essential)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
  • Reliable, observant, and proactive in approach
  • Willingness to comply with all Trust and Service Provider policies
  • Physically fit and capable of handling patrol and incident response duties
