Role Overview

The council is seeking a dedicated Security Officer to join the team at Hounslow House. In this pivotal role, the Security Officer will help ensure the safety and security of staff, visitors, and assets across the building. From monitoring CCTV and managing access control to patrolling the premises and supporting emergency evacuations, this role is essential to maintaining a secure and welcoming environment for all.

Key Responsibilities as Security Officer

  • Patrol the building and grounds, ensuring safety and security at all times
  • Operate CCTV systems and manage access control procedures
  • Respond promptly to incidents, emergencies, and alarms, including fire evacuations and first aid support
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, lost property, and daily security activities
  • Assist visitors at reception, providing clear information and signposting to services
  • Uphold high standards of safety by identifying hazards and addressing risks
  • Manage challenging behaviour calmly and professionally
  • Work collaboratively with the Security Team, Facilities Management, and other council services

Skills & Experience Required

  • Valid SIA Door Supervisor Licence (essential)
  • Valid SIA CCTV (Public Space Surveillance) Licence (essential)
  • Current First Aid Certificate (essential)
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a security role, ideally in a customer-facing environment (desirable)
  • Strong communication skills with a customer service focus
  • Professional, proactive, and calm approach to problem-solving
  • Experience working with vulnerable individuals (desirable)
  • Sensitivity, emotional intelligence, and strong organisational skills
  • Enhanced DBS clearance (essential)

Shift Pattern & Pay

  • Hours: 40 per week
  • Salary: £32,070 – £33,987 per year
  • Contract: Full-time, permanent
  • Location: Hounslow House, London Borough of Hounslow (in person)
  • Shifts include days, evenings, and weekends as part of a rota
