Role Overview

As an Assistant Store Manager, you’ll support the Store Manager in leading a high-performing team and managing the day-to-day operations of a £multi-million store. Whether it’s coordinating deliveries, resolving customer queries, or managing staff schedules, you’ll play a hands-on role in every area of the store.

You’ll be a key driver of sales and operational efficiency, while ensuring the team delivers exceptional customer experiences. In the Store Manager’s absence, you’ll confidently step up and take full responsibility for store performance.

Key Responsibilities as Assistant Store Manager

  • Support the Store Manager with daily operations, including stock management, deliveries, and customer service
  • Lead, coach, and motivate a diverse store team to achieve performance targets
  • Plan rotas and manage staff availability to ensure smooth store functioning
  • Monitor and manage store KPIs including sales, waste, productivity, and cost control
  • Ensure health & safety, cleanliness, and compliance standards are consistently met
  • Take charge of the store when the Store Manager is off duty
  • Contribute to a positive, customer-focused culture

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience in people management and leadership in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A hands-on approach to problem-solving and task execution
  • Ability to motivate teams and drive performance through clear goals
  • Resilience, adaptability, and a keen focus on operational excellence
  • Retail, hospitality, or other customer-facing experience is advantageous

Contract & Pay Details

  • Salary: £44,000 per year (based on 45 hours/week)
  • Contract options: 32, 36, 40, or 45 hours per week (salary pro-rated accordingly)
  • London allowance: Additional £2,960 per year
